ONE ARRESTED–ONE AT LARGE IN FAYETTE CO. KIDNAPPING/DEATH

  

A Fayette County woman has been arrested while a second suspect remains on the run following the discovery of a body in the Colorado River.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek says 20-year old Celeste Maldonado of Ellinger is in custody, while 20-year old Esequiel Cardenas of LaGrange is believed to have fled to Mexico.

Last week, a body was discovered in the Colorado River by Colorado County authorities.  The victim, a Giddings resident whose name has not been released, was reported shot to death and their body disposed of in the River.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Investigator William Lund identified the two suspects in the case, and arrest warrants were issued for Maldonado and Cardenas.

Maldonado turned herself in and has been charged with Aggravated Kidnapping.

More charges are expected to be field against the two suspects.
