TWO DEAD – TWO MISSING IN WASHINGTON COUNTY IDENTIFIED

  

One persons confirmed dead, and two others who are missing in the wake of historically-severe storms that have swept through Washington County have been identified according to KPRC.

21 year old Darren Mitchell of Navasota disappeared on Thursday when his truck went off of bridge on Highway 105 between Navasota and Brenham. Mitchell’s truck was found overturned on the banks of a creek.

56 year old Pyarali Umatiya of College Station was driving on Highway 50 near 105 on Friday when he called his family in panic when the water started to rise. According to the family, he called his son around 6:45am and said that water was coming up over the road and a short time later that the water was coming into his truck. After this, they never heard from him again.

48 year old Jimmy Schaefer of Brenham was found dead in a flooded vehicle near Prairie Hill and FM 50 Washington County. Investigators says a witness saw Schaefer drive his truck into high waters on Thursday before his truck stalled out and got pulled into the creek and swept away by the waters.

Funeral services for Schaefer are scheduled for 10:00am Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Ernesto Elizondo as officiant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is being held on Monday 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with a Rosary scheduled at 7:00pm.

The second flood water victim is a woman in her 50s, yet to be identified, was found dead near a trailer home on FM 1155 and Chappell Hill – approximately 20 miles from Brenham.

As of 11:30am this morning (Saturday), Sheriff Otto Hanak with emergency crews off of 105 recovering a body. Next, they will be headed to Yegua Creek to do search and recovery there.

It is sooooo sad for all in Brenham, we the ones, that were not directly affected by the bad weather, with no damage or lost of family are affected mentally and emotionally for everyone else, some of us feel so helpless that, there is nothing we can do to help the pain, but to all we are praying,I pray in Jesus name that the missing will be found, either way, And I can say this time I say to all law inforcement really doing their job and to all that are helping GOD BLESS each and everyone.
