ONE KILLED IN HIGHWAY 290 ACCIDENT
One person was pronounced dead on Monday morning at 5:23am on U.S. Highway 290 near Carmine.
Trooper Donald Delukie was called to a two-vehicle accident, where one of the vehicles, a 2003 International Truck hauling a trailer, was traveling West on Highway 290 and attempted to use the crossover, pulling out in front a another vehicle, a 2002 Toyota Tacoma traveling East on 290.
The driver of the International Truck, 44-year old Diego Zelez, of Katy was not injured.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, 22-year old Nicolas Ribera of Dripping Springs was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Doug Cone.
Weather is being considered a factor in the accident, and charges are pending in the accident.
