ONE ARRESTED IN BRENHAM CAR DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT

Saturday at 9:20 p.m., Cpl. Seth Klehm was conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle that had stopped in the LaRoche parking lot and saw a male subject appear from between two vehicles parked in the service area.

As Klehm was talking to the driver of the vehicle he stopped, he saw the subject walk towards the rear of the property. Due to the recent burglaries and thefts, Klehm ended the traffic stop to investigate the subject’s activities.

He found the subject sitting in a vehicle in the back parking lot attempting to remove gloves from his hands. The subject said he was looking for water for his vehicle, which he said was losing water.

Klehm noted there appeared to be no indication the vehicle was losing water and the car was not parked anywhere near a water source. The subject had an extensive history of theft, burglary and vehicular theft.

The subject was delayed in his responses to Klehm, and refused to give consent to search the vehicle. Klehm had his K9 partner perform a “free air” sniff around the vehicle and, from his change in behavior, indicated he detected the odor of narcotics in the vehicle. During a subsequent search, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the car as were tools consistent with those used in burglaries.

Arrested was forty year old James Kendrick of Houston, charged with Possession of marijuana under 2 oz,and possession of drug paraphernalia.
