OVER 200 APPLY FOR ASSISTANCE IN WASHINGTON CO.

FEMA reports over 200 Washington County residents have filed applications for over $800-thousand in assistance in the wake of May’s storms and flooding.

According to Rita Egan, local FEMA coordinator, 208 approved applications have been filed for a total of $878,444.

Egan adds that there may be more individuals and families who, for one reason or another have not registered.  She reminds all those affected by floods and severe weather in late May to apply with FEMA, either at a Disaster Recovery Center; by phone at 1-800-621-3362 or on line at: www.disasterassistance.gov.

In other nearby counties:

Brazos County has 137 applications for $637,000; Grimes County has 117 applications for $434,000; and, Burleson County has 32 applications for $194,000.

Egan also reminds business owners that completing the Small Business Administration (SBA) loan packet is simply part of the FEMA process. It does not mean you have to take out a loan, but it gives greater options, and if declined, can put the applicant back in line for more grant money that is not paid back.
