OVER 2,000 BLINN STUDENTS EARN ACADEMIC HONORS
Blinn names 908 students to its prestigious President’s Scholar’s List
More than 2,000 Blinn College students earned academic honors during the Fall 2017 semester, the College announced today.
Blinn named 908 students to its prestigious President’s Scholars List, including 508 who completed the semester with a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA). An additional 1,182 students earned placement on the Dean’s Scholars List.
To be named a President’s Scholar, students must earn a 3.75 GPA, complete at least 12 credit hours (excluding developmental courses), and pass all their courses. To earn Dean’s Scholar recognition, students must attain a 3.25 GPA, complete at least 12 credit hours (excluding developmental courses), and pass all their courses.

In December, Blinn celebrated 802 graduates during its Fall 2017 commencement ceremony held at the Bryan Performing Arts Center.
Blinn has articulation agreements with 39 four-year institutions, and its academic transfer rate regularly ranks among the highest in the state and the nation. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Blinn’s academic transfer rate of 34.2 percent ranks second in the state and far exceeds the statewide average of 21.1 percent.
Blinn is also home to pioneering co-enrollment programs such as the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM (Transfer Enrollment at A&M) Program and the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn.
In Fall 2018, Blinn will open a new facility at The Texas A&M University System’s RELLIS Campus, creating a new educational community combining a major university system and a community college at a single physical location. This location will allow Blinn students to complete their four-year degrees from Texas A&M System universities at the RELLIS Campus. The site also creates opportunities for Blinn to partner with other organizations and institutions located on the RELLIS Campus, including high-end, innovative, private research and development companies, the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). According to the THECB, out-of-district students taking 30 credit hours at Blinn during the 2017-18 academic year will save $3,717, or 41.9 percent, compared to state residents at the average Texas public university.
In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences. Blinn students and prospective students also can register for external scholarships and participate in grant programs.
Registration for the Spring semester is available through Monday, Jan. 15. College officials encourage early registration for convenient scheduling and placement in high-demand courses.
