OVER $7 MILLION IN BUILDING PERMITS ISSUED IN JANUARY

A remodel of Northview Village helped bring the January building permits in Brenham to over $7 million.

The city issued Northview Village a number of permits totaling $3,542,281, bringing the monthly total to $7,062,111.

The grand total was also boosted by a $1,583,360 permit issued to Collier Construction for Brenham Economic Development Foundation’s new training facility.

A $450,000 permit was issued to Stanpac USA for an interior buildout of a warehouse addition.

The 33 permits issued are well ahead of the 22 permits issued at the same time last year. In January 2016, the permits totaled $2,045,536.

  1. The Northview permits are for a REMODEL of existing units.

  2. The numbers look good on paper. But, looks like 50% of the money being spent is the government spending your tax dollars on more government subsidized housing. Looks like city planners want our city to become the Mecca of government dependency. If we keep this up….tomorrow’s Brenham will not be today’s Brenham.

    1. It’s become a complete beurocrosy too. I’m a builder and have stopped doing business within the city limits of Brenham because of all of the red tape, indecisiveness, politics and general lack of professionalism. I’m only one of several — I know several well established contractors that have left too. I’ve never ran into as many issues as I did with the City of Brenham with any other municipality. It’s a real shame too, because I live here! I hope someone will get off their high horse and fix the city. I mean they didn’t even reschedule the Christmas parade!!

      1. Spot on Chris I say the same thing. Brenham is corrupt time to drain the swaps and get better mangers and leaders here.

        1. I hope that new blood runs for City Council. We need common sense. If you are reading this. If you are a common sense person. Please run.
