PALM SUNDAY CONCERT AT ST. PETER’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

  

“The Seven Last Words of Christ” is a sacred Cantata by composer Theodore Dubois that will be performed at St. Peter’s Episcopal on Palm Sunday at 7pm.

This is an ecumenical concert combined with the choirs of St. Peter’s under the direction of Dr. Linda Patterson, Dr. Joel Plaag of the First United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church under the direction of Eric Knapp.  Knapp will direct the musicians.  Dr. Patterson will accompany the choirs on the organ while Dr. Wendy Bergin, an assistant professor of music at Prairie View will play the flute.  Todd Quinlan,  a faculty member at Blinn College will play the tympani.

The soloists will include Chris Hoffman as a tenor, Andrew Stuart will sing bass, Anamarie Zmolek will sing soprano.. 

Zmolek is a native of Colorado and considered a young soprano on the rise.  She recently sang on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera as semi-finalist in the National Council Auditions, having won first place in the Southwest Region for 2012.  While completing her Master’s Degree at Rice, she performed the roles of Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Prima Donna in Donizett’s Viva La Mamma.  She completed her undergraduate studies at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of Robert Swensen. 

The concert is free and open to the public although there will be a free will donation.
