PART OF HUMAN SKULL UNCOVERED NEAR ROUND TOP

  

An investigation is underway in Fayette County, after a portion of a human skull was found in Round Top.

According to authorities the piece of skull was found near the 400 block of South Washington St., Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Randy Noviskie says the portion of skull appears to be extremely old and has been sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office in Austin for DNA testing.

Noviskie says no other bone fragments were found.  He adds that there is a cemetery near the location where it was found and recent flooding from Hurricane Harvey may be responsible.

Noviskie says it could be quite some time before lab test results are completed.
