PAXTON CASE DELAYED

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton

On the brink of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton facing criminal securities fraud charges, a judge has ordered a delay until the trial can be moved from the Republican's hometown.

It is now unclear when Paxton will stand trial over allegations that he improperly steered investors toward a tech startup without disclosing that he was being paid by the company.

The trial had been set to begin in May.

But state District George Gallagher sided with special prosecutors who argued they couldn't get a fair trial in suburban Collin County, outside Dallas, where Paxton lives and where his supporters have publicly railed against the case.

Gallagher did not set a new trial date or select a new venue in a brief one-page ruling.

  1. This case was set to be tried in Austin, but the gop placed an amendment on our ballots about what constituted a persons official residence for purposes of prosecution. Republican voters obeyed and voted for amendment. Then, when it is changed to his county of origin, that still isn’t the “right” judge for the job. Now he wants another, more friendly county. This crime was committed 3 years ago, who is paying for this legal team??

    1. The prosecutor changed venue because too favorable to the defendant. The Judge will be the same just a new jury pool. This is to Paxton’s detriment and common in publicized criminal cases where the local community has heard too much about the case in the media and cannot be unbiased. He pays his own expenses. Not everything is a conspiracy.
