PEARLAND WOMAN KILLED IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

  

A 65-year old passenger in a car traveling tbyhrough  Washington County was killed Saturday afternoon when the Honda Civic she was in crossed into the path a Buick just east of Burton.
Reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety say Irene Dennis of Pearland died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan at 7:01pm from injuries she received in the late afternoon collision.
Dennis was in a Honda Civic driven by 24-year old Ashley Barksdale, also of Pearland. Barksdale was trying to cross from FM 1948 onto the eastbound lane of Highway 290 at 3:20 Saturday afternoon, when she drove into the path of Buick Enclave.
The Buick slammed into the side of the Honda. Barksdale was transported to the Scott and White in Brenham for treatment of injuries.
Dennis was taken to the St. Joseph’s Hospital. Glenn Kelley,, the 54-year old driver of the Buick was treated and released. The accident remains under investigation.
