Texas residents are being warned of yet another phone scam.

This time criminals are phoning citizens posing as representatives of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Inspector General’s Office.

Jason Clark, spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice says the scammer tells the intended victim their Social Security number has been flagged for fraud’ and requests an immediate call back.

The crooks then try to get the caller’s name, number and social security number.

Inspector General Bruce Toney advises everyone to not provide personal identifying information to anyone in this circumstance and to be alert for other similar circumstances where criminals are seeking to obtain personal information.

A complaint has been filed with the FCC.

  1. This scam doesn’t compute if you think about it for a second. Why in the world would TDCJ need information on anyone unless they are in prison or on parole? Even then, they would already have it. The public is too naive.
