POWERFUL STORMS KNOCK OUT POWER LINES IN BLUEBONNET SERVICE AREA

At 8:45 a.m. Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative reported 34 individual power outages affecting 493 members, primarily in Caldwell and Travis counties. The largest outage is near Del Valle in Travis County, affecting 155 members. That outage began Oct. 30 about 10 a.m. Flooding has prevented us from reaching our power lines to assess damage. Crews are now in the area and are optimistic we will be able to begin to assess damage and make repairs soon.

The Colorado River is rising in Bastrop County. We have three two-person crews patrolling the river between Bastrop and Smithville, paying particular attention to areas where, through experience, we know are prone to flooding. Our crews will cut power to homes that are, or about to be flooded for safety purposes.

We have 28 two-person crews working now to restore power, and about 40 more contractor construction and tree-trimming crews available to be deployed if necessary.

We are posting regular updates to our website, Facebook and Twitter. Up-to-date outage information is available via our outage viewer at http://outage.bluebonnetelectric.coop:82/
