PROGRAM ON HONEY BEES FRIDAY AT WASHINGTON CO. FAIRGROUNDS

An educational program on bees and trees is scheduled for Friday at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

The program is one in a series of eight programs designed for new landowners in Washington, Austin, Colorado and Fayette counties.

The program will focus on raising bees for hobby as well as for an agriculture valuation on property.

Topics will include the basics of getting started with bees and provide an opportunity for questions about managing hives successfully.

The program will also include tree basics for landowners, from identification to planting, disease management and fertilization.

The latest information program will be held at the sales facility at the fairgrounds beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The cost for the entire eight-part program is $125 per person and $200 per couple, or $20 per person per single meeting.

Continuing education units for pesticide applicators will be offered as they are applicable.

  1. This makes zero sense. Why educate people on how to raise bees if you’re going to also promote spraying pesticides? This is why the bee population is becoming extinct!
