QUALIFICATIONS FOR NEW POLICE CHIEF NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

  

The qualifications for the position of police chief have been posted by the City of Brenham on their website to aid in their search for a new police chief after the current Police Chief Rex Phelps took the position of assistant city manager effective on Monday.

Capt Dant Lang will serve as interim chief until a permanent one is hired.

Phelps, who has been police chief since 2009, will replace the retiring Kyle Dannhaus.

There is a packet of information for the police chief candidates on the City of Brenham website. One of the qualifications, according to City Manager Terry Roberts is that the applicants “must have strong communication skills, strong values and principle and a reputation for building relationships both internally and externally.”

Applications are due by June 15.

Advanced certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement is also among the requirement for the job/
