RANEY PLEASED WITH PLANS FOR BLINN EXPANSION IN BRYAN

Back on March first, the man who led an effort to change the way Blinn College funds its campuses, won re-election to his District-14 seat in the Texas House of Representatives.

Representative John Raney was re-elected in a landslide win over challenger Josh Fields in the Republican Primary.  Raney will have no opponent in the November election.

During the last legislative session, Raney introduced a bill to increase funding for the Bryan campus at the expense of the home campus in Brenham.  The bill was defeated, 92-42 on the House floor.

Since that last legislative session, Blinn has announced construction of a new 46.5-million dollar, 95-acre second campus in Bryan, which would ultimately serve an additional 15,000 students.

Raney says he’s pleased to see, what he calls, a significant improvement for the students of the Bryan campus…

Raney says he will continue to strive for—what he calls—“equity in expenditures.”

He says he wants to see the Bryan students get a “good education so they can move on to productimve lives.”

  1. Mr Raney,
I hope you are not trying to spin this as something that has occurred because of your efforts. The plans for expanding the Bryan campus have been in the works long before you introduced your legislation.
