RANEY TO RUN FOR REELECTION TO TEXAS HOUSE

The man who once tried to get funding for Blinn College routed primarily to College Station is running for reelection to the State House.

John Raney

State Representative John Raney announced that he's running for re-election to the District 14 seat in the Texas House.

He said two months ago that he planned to run again.

Raney has held the position since winning a special election in 2011.  He serves as vice-chair of the Committee on Higher Education and also serves on the House administration and appropriations committees.

In 2015, Raney filed legislation that would have drastically affected funding for Blinn College’s Brenham Campus, in favor of the Bryan Campus.

The move did not reach a vote on the House floor.

  1. This article is absolute false, all Rep. Raney and myself ever wanted is fairness to the Bryan Campus and fairness to the taxpayers of Washington County.

Blinn was spending approximately 3 times as much per student just for educating at Blinn Brenham as per student at Blinn Bryan.

What he really did was “wake up” the Blinn Board of Trustees.

I am a proud 1954 Graduate of Blinn.
