RECORDS FALL AMONG CHAMPIONS AT WCF LIVESTOCK AUCTION

  

Eight records fell among the grand and reserve champions at the Washington County Fair Junior Livestock Auction.fair-auction-small

The steers smashed the old records, as a group of 18 buyers teamed up to purchase Chet Fritsch’s Grand Champion for $30,000 – nearly $8,000 over the old record.

The Grand Champions went for a total of $68,250, while the Reserve Champions sold for $71,450 for a total of $139,700 dollars. As a whole, the auction brought in $690,000.

The buyers of the Chet Fritsch’s Grand Champion steer are: Flatonia L/S and Beck & Sons, Brazos Valley Livestock, Seguin Cattle Company, Mid Tex Livestock, Navasota Livestock, Cattleman’s Brenham Livestock Auction, Carmine Feed & Fertilizer Inc., Norbrook Animal Health, Fowler Feeder LLC- Todd Siek, Zoetis Animal Health, Four County Livestock Auction, Industry State Bank, Texas Farm Credit Services, Fritsch Cattle Co., B&B Cattle, Kieke Egg Farm, Leon & Flo Schwartz, Carmine State Bank, and Tegeler Toyota & Chevrolet.

Keaton Schulte’s Reserve Champion steer also set a new record, selling to a group of five buyers for $29,000. The buyers are: Thomas J Schulte Family, ABIS Inc., DDM Pipe & Steel, and Schulte Farm Services.

Also breaking records in the Grand Champions were Carsyn Hodde’s Barrow at $10,000 which sold to Brenham Dodge, Texas Farm Credit Services, and Ballard & Fleetwood PLLC. Tyler Koehne’s Carcass Hog sold for $7,000 to Rocking P Cattle, South Concrete Inc., Nathan’s BBQ and Lauren Concrete.

Also among Grand Champions, Meg Rodriguez’ Turkey sold for $5,000 to J&J Packing. Lauren Hook’s Rabbits went for $5,000 to Metropolitan Water Company LP. Katie Mikolajchak’s Goats sold for $4,000 to J&J Packing; Tanna Thiel’s Lambs sold for $3,000 to Washington Animal Clinic. Braylee Schomburg’s Broilers sold for $4,250 to Legacy Waste Services.

Other record-breaking prices among the Reserve Champions include Hunter Kunkel’s Turkey for $8,000, sold to Philips Veterinary Hospital and Industrial Rig Lights Inc. Carter Callahan’s Goats at $7,000 solds to J&J Packing, Citizens State Bank, H.E.B., Larry Arnie, Batters Box, and Bridgette Schulze CPA. Kendall Gurka’s Lambs sold for $6,500 to Pooltex American, Inc., Bank of Brenham, David Hermann Electric Co. Inc., Wellmann Insurance Agency, Metal & More Construction, Hometown Properties, Thielemann Construction Co. LP, and Capital Farm Credit. Landon Flisowski’s Broilers for $6,700 to Collier Construction Inc., Washington County Tractor Inc., and Lauren Concrete.

Also in the Reserve Champions, Ava Redman’s Carcass Hog went for $4,750 to Philips Veterinary Hospital; Jackson Kalkhake’s Barrow sold for $5,000 to J&J Packing; and Dane Kruse’s Rabbits went for $4,500 to Capital Farm Credit, Brenham L-P Gas, Inc., Hometown Properties, Thielemann Construction Co. LP, and Kenneth Schwenke.

A total of 260 lots were part of the Junior Livestock Auction.
