RED VELVET CAKE WAR AT BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL

The Brenham High School Theater Department’s fall production is under way.

The Red Velvet Cake War opens tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 at the Brenham High School Auditorium.

The musical is set in Sweetgum, Texas in which three cousins—Gaynelle, Peaches and Jimmie Wyvette--are hosting their eccentric family reunion on the hottest day in July.  Events at the reunion lead up to the challenge over who makes the best red velvet cake.

The Red Velvet Cake War opens tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 pm and features performances Saturday at 7:00 and Sunday at 2:00.

Tickets are $5 for students/teachers and $8 for adults.

For more information or for tickets call 277-3800 ext. 4081.

I just wanted to comment on the Cast & Crew that put on the play at the Brenham High School “The Red Velvet Cake War”. I want to urge you to try and attend one of their other performances on either Saturday or Sunday evening at 7 pm. Brenham is known for its baseball and football teams and the outstanding job that they do in representing our town and community. I also think Brenham is a well-rounded community with very talented young adults in other areas as well that might not get the credit they deserve because what they are doing is not sports related, you can’t broadcast a play on the radio very well. I went to the performance Thursday night and was just blown away with the talent of these young adults and their performance. They had the crowd that was there supporting them laughing (tears in your eyes laughing) and the crowd really enjoying watching these young adults perform. I have been to several of the plays that have been put on at the Brenham High School and have been entertained at everyone. Brenham is a great place to live and work and with the talent of these young adults coming up we are going to be around for a long time.

I usually don’t make comments on community activities but just felt compelled to comment on this very enjoyable play. You don’t have to run this but maybe if they have some advertising try and push it that little extra for the community to come out and support this very talented group of young adults.
    Thanks
    Ricky Boeker
