RENKEN TO ASK FOR JAIL TIME FOR KULOW

Sentencing is set for Thursday morning in the case of a former Washington County jailer convicted of assaulting a prisoner.

District Judge Carson Campbell will sentence Christopher Kulow at 10:00 a.m. in 21st District Court.

Kulow was convicted back in August of beating a prisoner who was in restraints at the time.  The incident was caught on a surveillance camera inside the Washington County Jail.

Kulow could receive up to a year in jail or two years probation.

Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken has indicated she will request jail time…but will not recommend a specific punishment for the Class A Misdemeanor.

Renken says she felt Kulow took no responsibility and showed no remorse for his actions, and that’s why she’s requesting he be sentenced to time in jail.

  1. Its not fair that an officer with higher power authority would take advantage of an inmate
that was restrained who could not defend himself. If that inmate would’ve retaliated, received charges for assaulting a peace officer, sent to jail, no one would’ve felt compassion on him. While I have ran into Officer Kulow in the past, and did not have the best experience to say the least but I just ask for justice and leave in the hands of the justice system. More than anything I pray for all the officers doing a great job in the Brenham community!!!! Thanks for your service!!!!!

  2. Jail time for first offence? Really ? Making an example of him that’s what ya are doing ! Probation should be requested . A child molesta goes free with no additional jail time ! How is this fair?

    1. I bet if that was you tied to a chair getting bet up Shirley, you would be requesting jail time!
