RESEARCH VALLEY PARTNERSHIP PRESIDENT RESIGNING

The president of the Research Valley Partnership (RVP) has announced his resignation.

Todd McDaniel, the president of the economic development agency which was behind last year’s push for a new community college in Brazos County, notified the RVP board he will not seek the renewal of his contract.

McDaniel announced on Friday that he will leave at the end of this year, which marks the end of his contract. McDaniel has led the organization since November 2005.

RVP’s Brazos Talent Initiative Steering Committee began a push for the creation of a new community college in Brazos County last fall, citing a lack of workforce education offered by Blinn College in the county.

However, progress on their endeavor slowed after Blinn and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service announced they would join together in a workforce training partnership.

In a statement Wednesday, the Director of Communications for RVP said the steering committee has not met since January and "as such there is no new information available."
