RETIRED ROYAL DANISH COUNSEL TO ADDRESS EVENING LIONS CLUB

  

The Honorable Ray J Daugbjerg, retired Royal Danish Counsel, will address the Brenham Evening Lions Club on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00pm at the Cannery Kitchen.

Dinner will be served at 6:30pm, with the program beginning at 7.

The topic of the evening is the Culture of the Danish.

In November of 2014, Mr. Daugbjerg retired as Honorary Royal Danish Consul after 21 years, and prior to moving to Brenham in 2002, Mr. Daugbjerg worked in the field of Retained Executive search with two international firms.

During the prior twenty-five years, he managed his own consulting practice, specializing in strategy formulation and training, and has provided consulting services and search to many major corporation in North American and abroad.

Consulting and training services include identification and resolution of critical issues, which develop the critical thinking skills of the organization into a core competence, resulting in competitive advantage. Ray established teamwork and leadership by applying common, systemic approaches resulting in productivity improvement. Clients include: Proctor and Gamble, Global Marine Drilling Company, John Brown Engineering and Construction, Brown and Root Inc., Panama Canal Commission, Fina Oil and Chemical, Bechtel, Inc., Advance Micro Devices, Compaq Computer, Keystone International, Inc., Basis Petroleum, Shell Oil Company, Amoco Production, Daniel Valve Company and Memorial Healthcare Systems.

Ray served as Coordinating Chairman of the Southwest CEO Council. The membership includes twenty-five CEO’s of both public and private companies with average sales of $65 million. He coordinates the Council Meeting programs and Leadership Awards selection and presentation. The organization is dedicated to development of leadership qualities of its members.

Ray is a native of Houston and a 1967 graduate of the University of Houston and Blinn College in 1964. He serves on numerous boards and is active in civic and social organization. In 1985, he founded the Houston Invitational Golf Marathon, which has raised over $13 million for the prevention of child abuse, and for the Brookwood Community. In 1992, he received the Book of Golden Deed Award from The Exchange Clubs of Houston for his work with The Escape Family Resource Center and The Brookwood Community.

In April of 1990, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and President George H.W. Bush appointed Mr. Daugbjerg Honorary Consul for Denmark in Texas. Ray served as Treasurer of the Consular Corps of Houston, and now as Vice Dean of the Consular Corps.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has twice knighted Consul Daugbjerg. The Order of The Dannebrog is a Danish order of Chivalry, which may be award to Danes and foreign citizens for meritorious civil or military service, for a particular contribution to the arts, sciences, or business life, and for working for Danish interest.

Ray currently serves on the Washington County Board of Habitat for Humanity and the Board of Brenham Housing authority and previously on the Board to Trinity Healthcare.
