REVIEW AND MEMORIAL SERVICE PLANNED FOR FORT HOOD

A full safety review of Fort Hood and a memorial service for the fallen are being planned after Tuesday’s deadly shooting at the base.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn visited the base Wednesday, called for the review.  The review will include the policy that allows soldiers to bring weapons on the base.

Meanwhile flags are flying at half-staff at the base, and across Killeen.  People with ties to the Army are awaiting to officially learn all the names of the fallen, after Specialist Ivan Lopez opened fire, killing four, including himself and injuring 16 Tuesday.

Base commanders are planning an official memorial service next week to honor the fallen and injured.  The commanders are also commending the work of those who called 911, confronted the shooter and helped saved lives.

The deadly shooting incident was the second at the nation’s largest military base in four and a half years.
