The A.R. Pickard High School Reunion Association will be hold a ribbon cutting for the former A.R. Pickard Building  Home Economics building at 205 Kerr St., on Saturday, June 13th at 10am.

The building, which has been refurbished, is the former Home Economics building, which is the only building of the high school still standing. The location is adjacent to the old Alton Elementary School, and is being donated to the Association by Brenham ISD.

Shirley Harris, the president of the A.R. Pickard High School Reunion Association, tells a little more on what will be going on during the ribbon cutting, and purpose of restoring the historical building.

Harris says the Association has been working to obtain the building since 2007, to preserve it for future generations. She is also hoping to be able to apply for a Historical Marker in the near future.

Other officers of the Association include Director Loretta Johnson, who started the organization many years ago, Vice-President Gloria Wills, and Treasurer/Historian James Dennis.

The public is encouraged to attend.
