A Brenham native will become the next General Manger of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.

Bluebonnet officials announced today that current GM Mark Rose will retire after 14 years with the co-op. Bluebonnet’s board of directors unanimously voted to name Deputy General Manager Matt Bentke to succeed Rose.

Rose’s retirement and Bentke’s promotion is the culmination of a succession plan several years in the making.

Rose said he appreciates the support of the Bluebonnet’s board members over the years.

Rose has served as general manager since January 2003.   Bentke has been with Bluebonnet since April 2000.

Before becoming deputy general manager in March 2014, Bentke rose from manager of finance to chief operating officer.  He will become Bluebonnet’s fifth general manager.

Rose and Bentke, who as deputy general manager for the past two years has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the co-op, will work together on the timing of the transition.

Bluebonnet Board Chairman Ben Flencher expressed gratitude to Rose for all that he has accomplished at Bluebonnet, and confidence in Bentke.
