About 70 people came to an informational meeting on the Burning of Brenham movie Thursday evening.  Roy Burger, owner and CEO of RB Film Productions, plans to begin filming on the movie this summer.  The movie will be based on the Burning of Brenham book by local author Sharon Brass.  One of the first tasks before filming will be the construction of a replica of early Brenham.  Burger has leased the old landfill property from the City of Brenham as the location for the replica city.  He talked about how it will be constructed:

Burger also talked about the difficulty of locating a working steam locomotive for the film:

Burger said he then stumbled upon a steam engine located in Illinois that he will be bringing here for the filming. It will be located on the existing railroad siding that runs to Blue Bell Creamery.  Burger said he plans on the engine being based in Brenham for a long time.

Burger said that he plans on casting major movie actors for the leading rolls and that he is currently talking with several.  When asked by an audience member if Nicolas Cage was one that he had talked with about the film, Burger indicated that was a good possibility.  He said that locals looking for extra parts should check the movies website and Facebook page for casting calls, but that was several months away.
