SALES TAX REBATES CONTINUE TO DROP IN BRENHAM/WASHINGTON CO.

  

Both the City of Brenham and Washington County continue to see declines in sales tax rebates from the State of Texas this month.

Brenham’s rebate from the state for July of this year is down 13.1 percent from last year…$463,112 versus $532,886 last year.  So far in 2016 the City’s share of tax rebates have declined by 4 percent from 2015.  Through July of this year the total is $3,528,335 versus $3,675,379 last year.

Washington County’s tax rebate from the state declined by 14.2% from July of last year.  July’s rebate is $182,862 versus $213,046 for last July.  For the year through July, the County’s rebates are down 4.6 percent.  Last year the County had received $1,498,782 through July, versus $1,429,585 this year.

The City of Burton continues to show increases in its tax rebates from the state.  Burton’s July rebate is up 116 percent, $2666 compared to $1231 for last July.  On the year Burton’s rebates are up 18.1 percent, $21,570 versus $18,265 for 2015.
