SALES TAX REBATES RUNNING AHEAD
Sales tax rebates for Brenham, Burton and Washington County have increased this past month.
According to the Texas Comptroller’s Office, Brenham received $511,868, up 7.4 percent from a year ago when it totaled $476,517. For the year, the city has received just over $4.8-million, just six-tenths-of-a percent less than rebates through October of last year.
Washington County’s payment this month was $212,836, up 4.5 percent from 2013’s $203,686. The county’s 2014 payments to date, total just over $2-million, up 2.3 percent from 2013.
The City of Burton received $3,911 this month, up 15.8 percent. For the year, Burton has received $29,078, up 9.1 percent from 2013.
State Comptroller Susan Combs said state sales tax revenue was $2.17 billion, up 7.9 percent compared to 2013.
The sales tax figures represent monthly sales made in August.
