SALES TAX REBATES UP/DOWN IN NOVEMBER

  

Sales tax rebates increased this past month for Washington County and Burton, however, the city of Brenham saw a slight drop in its rebate compared to a year ago.

Brenham’s November payment was $519,868, down 1.4 percent from the same month last year.

For the year, Brenham’s rebates are $5,410,022, down 0.7 percent from the same period in 2013.

The November rebate to Washington County was $222,029, an increase of 4.7 percent from the same month last year.

For 2014 rebates are up 2.6 percent at $2.233,054.

Burton received $1,928 this month, a 6.3 percent increase from November of 2013.

For the year, Burton has received $31,007, up 8.9 percent from 2013.

State Comptroller Susan Combs says November local sales tax allocations totaling $723.1 million are up 10.5 percent compared to November 2013.

The sales tax figures represent September sales reported by monthly tax filers and July, August and September sales reported by quarterly filers.
