An attorney representing Bland's family will file a lawsuit against Trooper Brian Encinia and – what they’re calling "others responsible for the death of Sandra Bland".

Encinia is the trooper who arrested Bland in Waller County. Three days later, Bland was found dead in her jail cell in Hempstead of an apparent suicide.

Bland's family has disputed the ruling.

Bland was pulled over stop near Prairie View A&M July 10th for failing to signal while changing lanes. She was arrested for allegedly kicking Encinia during the stop.

The trooper was put on desk duty for violating procedures during the stop.

Bland had told jailers she had previously attempted suicide but jail staff said she seemed fine when she was booked.

On July 22, police released a 52-minute long dash camera video from Encinia's car. The clip showed Encinia yelling for Bland to get out of her car and demanding that she put her phone away.

  1. Wow, she kills herself and the jail/trooper is responsible??? It was HER choice, HER decision. We all get thrown curves in life. Take responsibility, make a WISE decision!

    1. Well , Vera, what the issue is, is that a lot of people do not believe she killed herself. ::WOW::

      1. Hey Jacob, read the independent autopsy……no evidence to show someone else did it……her family/friends failed her when she called for help and no one bailed her out….she felt like no one cared and she checked herself out…..sad but true.
