SCHOLARSHIPS STILL AVAILABLE FOR BLINN COLLEGE MUSIC AND THEATRE ARTS PROGRAMS

The Blinn College Division of Visual & Performing Arts invites students to apply for music and theatre arts scholarships for the 2015-16 academic year.

Blinn’s Music Department offers small classes, one-on-one attention, practical learning and easily-accessible faculty so students are actively engaged in a superior learning environment. All Blinn’s outstanding, world-class music instructors encourage students’ individual growth while introducing them to a wealth of music, ideas and issues.

In addition to its slate of music courses, Blinn offers performance opportunities through its marching band, wind symphony, symphonic band, jazz ensemble, steel band, woodwind ensemble, brass ensemble, marching auxiliaries, percussion ensemble, choral union, women’s chorus and choral ensemble.

Scholarships remain available for Blinn’s choir, band, drama, instrumental and vocal programs. For information about specific scholarships available on Blinn’s Brenham and Bryan campuses, instrumentalists should contact Jill Stewart at jstewart@blinn.edu or 979-830-4262, while vocalists interested in attending the Brenham campus should contact Dr. Joel Plaag at joel.plaag@blinn.edu or 979-830-4239. The deadline to apply or audition is May 17.

Blinn recently hosted more than 3,000 middle, junior high and high school students on its Brenham campus for a solo and ensemble contest and the College’s annual Music Meet and Choir Contest. This year marked the highest combined attendance in the events’ history.

Blinn’s theatre arts programs on its Brenham and Bryan campuses combine to host at least eight performances each year and offer a quality educational foundation through study, application and experience. Blinn’s broad range of theatre courses include the history of theatre, acting, makeup, musical theatre and stagecraft.

For information about scholarship opportunities on the Bryan campus, contact Bryan campus Theatre Arts Director Greg Wise at greg.wise@blinn.edu or 979-209-7244.
