SCHUBERT FAMILY AMBASSADORS FOR MARCH OF DIMES

Brady and Ayla

A local family has been selected as ambassadors by the Brazos Valley March of Dimes organization. Jamie and Brady Schubert are eager to share what the March of Dimes has done to help their family.  Jamie tragically lost her first child during pregnancy in 2013.  Her second child, Ayla , was born premature November 26, 2014.  She weighed only 4 lbs. 13 oz.  Her lungs were underdeveloped and she struggled to breath, even on oxygen.  Being a nurse, Jamie knew her condition was serious:

Ayla small

Doctors gave Ayla the drug Surfactant, which is a direct result or research and funding through the March of Dimes. Within 10 hours, little Ayla was breathing much better. Today, Ayla is a happy and healthy toddler:

In Texas, one in eight babies are born too soon, and premature birth is the number one killer of babies nationally. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Jamie, her husband Brady and little Ayla will at the March for Babies event on April 23rd at Research Park at Texas A&M.  To sign up a team for the walk, or to donate to a team, go to marchforbabies.org
