Altair Disposal Services has applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for a hazardous waste permit to authorize the construction and operation of a new non-commercial landfill for the disposal of hazardous waste and industrial solid waste.

Schubert says that "It is clear that the citizens of Colorado County have serious concerns regarding this proposed facility. I believe there are serious technical deficiencies in Altair's application that deserve an in-depth look by the Commission."

There has been notable public opposition to the proposed site. Schubert says that the people of Colorado County, through their local elected leadership, have spoken loud and clear that they do not want this facility and he joins with his constituents in opposing it.

The period for public comment on the application is still open. Citizens can go to tceq.texas.gov/about/comments to comment.
