Blinn College men’s basketball coach and athletic director Scott Schumacher added another honor to his illustrious coaching career with his recent selection to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Board of Directors.

Schumacher will serve a three-year term for the TABC as the men’s college board member, and will play a pivotal role in selecting coaches and players of the year in Division I, small college and junior college divisions in the state of Texas.

“It is very exciting to be asked to serve in this capacity for the TABC,” Schumacher said.

With more than 5,000 members, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches is the “Voice of Texas Basketball,” and promotes basketball on the high school, junior college, small college and Division I levels.

Schumacher is on the cusp of his 500th career victory, entering his 27th year of junior college basketball with a 499-301 overall record. The upcoming 2016-17 season will be Schumacher’s fifth season at Blinn, where he has a 75-52 overall record. Schumacher has also coached at Paris Junior College and Kilgore College in Texas and North Dakota State College of Science.

The Buccaneers’ season opens against Lone Star College – Tomball on Nov. 1.
