SCOTT AND WHITE BRENHAM HONORED

For the second time in a row, Scott and White Hospital in Brenham has been awarded the Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Silver Award from the TMF Health Quality Institute, the Medicare quality improvement organization for Texas.

Administrator Michael Pittman says this award recognizes Texas hospitals that meet a stringent set of procedures during each and every patient encounter to improved care.  The primary areas involved include surgery, pneumonia, congestive heart failure and heart attack.  Across the state 45 hospitals received the Silver Award for the 2012-13 time period, 33 Texas hospitals received the Gold Award.

Pittman said one factor was the number of return hospital stays.  He says a hospital is one business that does not want ‘return customers.’
