SEALY JUNIOR HIGH RECEIVES EARLY CHRISTMAS GIFT

Sealy Junior High School received an early Christmas gift last Friday, as a Gallery Furniture delivery truck with $10,000 worth of furniture drove up to the school.

Back in August, Houstonians were asked to nominate a school they knew was in need of new furniture for a teacher’s lounge makeover, and why the school deserved the furniture. The persons went online to the Gallery Furniture website to nominate.

Principal Terri Kendrick says she doesn’t know who nominated her school, but knows that it took more than one nomination to be considered.

Sealy was the first of five schools to win one of the $10,000 makeovers, with the total of the makeovers totaling $200,000.

According to Gallery Furniture’s news release, the store will sometimes give away furniture to turn sparse teacher’s lounges into a place to relax and collaborate, and can include such things as sofas, tables, chairs and other items

After each winner is notified, a representative from the school will go to Gallery Furniture to pick out the furniture.
