The endorsement came during his remarks at a Kolkhorst campaign event in her hometown of Brenham, Wednesday night.

The event, held in the Fireman’s Training Center, featured a capacity crowd of nearly 800 guests and was organize by supporters from Austin, Burleson, Fayette and Washington Counties.

The Kolkhorst campaign counted over 1200 individual sponsors of the event, with over $320,000 being raised directly from local supporters.

Kolkorst says that last night’s campaign event in Brenham was humbling, and “I was honored by Senator Hegar’s words. To receive his endorsement in front such a huge crowd of friends, family, and supporters says a lot about this campaign.

With nearly eight hundred in attendance, Hegar spoke highly of Kolkhorst’s partnership in winning conservative victories for Senate District 18 for the past decade, and offered his full endorsement.

Kolkhorst will face four other candidates for the position, vacated when Hegar was elected State Comptroller.  They include: Republicans, Gary Gates and Charles Gregory, both businessmen from Richmond; along with two Democrats, Richmond business-owner Cindy Drabek and Rosenberg attorney Christina Hawkins.

The special election is set for Saturday, December 6th.  Early voting will be from Wednesday, November 26 thru Tuesday, December 2.
