SENATOR KOLKHORST APPOINTED TO TEXAS AGRICULTURE POLICY BOARD

  

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick appointed Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst to the Texas Agriculture Policy Board on Friday.

The Texas Agriculture Policy Board conducts research and analysis and recommends strategies for agriculture that enhance agriculture production, income, and employment, that benefit consumers, and that promote efficient and sustainable use of natural resources.

Senator Kolkhorst released a statement saying:

“I thank Lieutenant Governor Patrick for appointing me to the influential Texas Agriculture Policy Board. For many years I have worked with the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers, the Texas Farm Bureau and other agriculture organizations protecting private property rights and promoting agriculture, Texas' second largest industry."

According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas leads the nation in cattle, cotton, hay, sheep, goats and mohair production. Estimates show the economic impact of the food and fiber sector in Texas totals more than $100 billion annually.
