SENATOR KOLKHORST APPOINTED TO NEW SENATE COMMITTEE

Senator Kolkhorst smallSenator Lois Kolkhorst has been appointed to the recently established Senate Committee on Texas Ports by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. This committee was established specifically to study the economic benefits of the Panama Canal expansion to Texas ports.

Patrick says “This committee will focus on what our ports must do to remain competitive”.

Senator Kolkhorst’s district represents the ports of Bay City, Calhoun, Palacios, Victoria and West Calhoun, which is the most of any Texas lawmaker. Kolkhorst also serves on the Agriculture and Water, Education, Finance, Health and Human Services, and Transportation Committees as well as a Joint Committee to study a coastal barrier system.
