SEVEN-RUN INNING SINKS CUBETTES

A seven-run fourth inning led Willis to a 9-2 win over the Brenham Cubettes, Tuesday night at Alumni Field.

The game was scoreless in the top of the fourth inning, when back-to-back walks drove in runs for the LadyKats (15-6/5-0).

Hanna Earls then drove in a run with a single, followed by a three-run double by McKenzie Parker.

Willis would extend their lead to 8-0 on a solo homer by Aubry Ford.

The Cubettes (12-8/3-2) would eventually get on the board in the sixth, when a squeeze bunt by Savannah Bartay scored Karleigh Flisowski.  Amanda Almaraz then scored on a passed ball.

Amanda Little (11-8) took the loss for the Cubettes, while Ashley Vallejo picked up the win for the LadyKats.

Brenham managed just three singles on the night, from McGee Eschete, Kaitlin Whitehead and Jenna Hardy.

The game was marred by a scary moment in the third inning when a hard hit line-drive foul ball, screamed into the Cubettes dugout, striking second baseman Hanna Warmke.

Warmke was taken by Washington County EMS to Scott & White Hospital.  According to Coach Katie Roberts, Warmke suffered a minor concussion and was released to spend the night at home.

The Cubettes will be back in action Friday night when they travel to Huntsville to face the Lady Hornets at 7:00.
