WARRANT ISSUED FOR SUSPECT IN AUSTIN SHOOTING

Austin police identified 24-year-old Endicott McCray as a person of interest in an early Sunday shooting on Sixth Street.

Austin police released a murder warrant Sunday night for 24-year-old Endicott McCray, who has yet to be taken into custody. His bail is set at $2 million.

According to Hays County court records, McCray is a resident of San Marcos and has previous burglary convictions. McCray is a 5-foot-9-inch black man weighing approximately 130 pounds. He has a goatee and dreadlocks. Police warn that McCray might be armed. Anyone who has any information is asked to call the homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.

The deadly shooting happened at 2:17 a.m. on Sixth Street in the Entertainment District of Austin. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Three more women were taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Another victim was treated at the scene.

While police have not released the names of the victims, relatives have identified the woman who was killed as Teqnika Moultrie. Family members say Moultrie, a 30-year-old bus driver from San Carlos, California, was in Austin to visit her fiancé’s family. Her fiancé was with her when she was shot.
