SIKES HELPS LEAD WARRIORS TO NATIONAL SEMI’S

Former Brenham Cubette volleyball standout Jill Sikes helped lead Hendrix College into the NCAA Division III national semifinals

Sikes, a senior defensive specialist, tallied 186 digs for the season along with 18 service aces and 46 assists.

The Warriors’ run came to an end Friday night with a loss to Wittenberg University in four sets (25-14, 16-25, 25-21, 25-13) in the semifinals.

The Warriors ended the season at 29-9 — the second-most wins in program history.

Sikes was a four-year letter-winner for Brenham Cubettes; a .three-time First Team All-District selection as a libero.

She was selected to Greater Houston All-Star Volleyball Team as a senior, and a three-time team defensive MVP.  She also helped the Cubettes to four straight playoff appearances, winning three district titles and making the state tournament during her sophomore and junior years.

Jill is the daughter of Troy and Kelley Sikes of Brenham.
