SINK HOLE DEVELOPS ON BURLESON STREET

A sink hole developed Tuesday afternoon on Burleson Street where is goes over Higgins Branch.  The City of Brenham Street Department has closed Burleson Street between MLK and Pleasantview Street.  The sink hole appeared when a portion of the concrete culvert under the road collapsed.  Recent rain from Hurricane Harvey along with the flooding from May of 2016 is believed to have contributed to the failure.  Engineers will be assessing the damage today.  That portion of Burleson Street will remain closed until permanent repairs can be made.

  1. Just wait until all the waste of money used to fill these potholes in do the same thing because about 20 places I know of are happening as I type!
The city is under poor management and we need a change or future cost will be coming from our wheel alignment damages from just driving on our own tax dollar roads!
You can’t buy cheap material and expect it to do the quick fix and put the rest in your pocket or the donut shops…

  2. You mean “way back when” in April? Google purchases their imagery, just like many other commercial users, and that imagery is updated much more frequently than you might think. For instance, you can tell at a glance that this imagery has been produced since ‘the big flood,’ as evidenced by the obvious flood damage to the canal. If you haven’t tried it out yet, I encourage you to try out the satellite timeline view in Google Earth, where you can easily compare older imagery to newer imagery.

  3. If you plug that address into “Google Earth” and zoom in, there appears to already be an indentation forming, “way back when” Google Earth satellites first scanned that area…
