SMALL PLANE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT AT BRENHAM AIRPORT

A small single seat aerobatic plane went off the runway at the Brenham Airport Sunday morning.  The Brenham Fire Department and Washington County EMS were dispatched to the scene just before 8:00 am Sunday.  The plane ended up in the grass next to one of the large hangers at the airport, about 100 yards from the runway.  The small plane received heavy damage in the accident, but there was no fire or entrapment.  The condition of the pilot is unknown at this time.  The area remained taped off Monday morning awaiting investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration.

  1. The pilot was enroute to Beaumont. He was ferrying the recently purchased plane from Phoenix to his home in Florida and set down in Brenham to avoid fog in the Houston and coastal areas. The landing did not go well. He apparently broke his nose but otherwise was shaken up.
