SNAPCHAT THREAT NOT ABOUT BRENHAM HIGH SCHOOL

According to Brenham Police, a threat currently circulating on social media that mentions "BHS" has nothing to do with Brenham High School.  The threat actually originated in Belen, New Mexico and a student has been arrested there for making it.  Unfortunately, the threat has been misinterpreted as it has spread across the country causing confusion at any high school beginning with a B including Bryan and Brenham High Schools.  Below is the complete release from the Brenham Police Department:

Brenham Police Department and Brenham ISD have been made aware of an anonymous school threat that has been circulating via Snapchat. The Snapchat post was originally created by a student in Belen, New Mexico who made a threat against their Belen High School “BHS”. This threat has been proven to be unfounded and the 16 year old student has been arrested in Belen, New Mexico. However, since this threat has been shared multiple times through social media , it has made its way into our area. Brenham ISD officials and Brenham PD take these situations very serious, but want to reassure our community that this particular threat has been proven unfounded, and does not relate to Brenham High School (BHS). Brenham ISD and Brenham PD have a very close partnership, and will continue to work together, making our children and our schools a priority in keeping them safe.

  1. Parents, if your kids are on Snapchat, you need to start paying closer attention to their social media activity. It became popular because kids think all the pictures are quickly deleted. This leads many to feel safe sending pictures they wouldn’t otherwise. Snapchat is a cesspool of filth. Don’t turn a blind eye to what your kids are doing and assume it will all be okay. It’s your right and duty to snoop.
