SNOOK COUNCIL DISCUSSES WATER PLANT

The Snook city council tabled discussion on plans to fund a new water treatment plant.

The council met Monday, saying that funding may have to come from increases in water and sewage rates.

Plans for the new water plant are still in the development phase, for a project that could cost the city more than $2 million.

The old water plant is nearly 40-years-old, and while it currently meets state requirements, Snook officials say they want to make sure they continue to meet those standards.

Water filtration experts told the city earlier this year that it's time to start making plans for a new one because the old plant is wearing down.

Officials believe the new plant will save the city money in the long run.

The new water plant is expected to be built where the old one currently stands on County Road 268.
