SNOOK ISD PLACED ON T.E.A. PROBATION

The Snook ISD could lose accreditation if they don’t improve their test scores.

The Texas Education Agency has placed the district on Accredited-Probation Status and is on notice to turn their test scores around.

The District was put on probation by the TEA for accountability ratings from 2011, 2013 and 2014.

First-year Superintendent Brenda Krchnak says changes are under way, saying she wants to assure parents that the school board has taken significant action to be proactive.

Krchnak says the district has done well on their end of course exams at the secondary level but grades 3 through 8 need to focus on improving scores across the board in all areas.

She says the district’s main struggles have been in working with economically disadvantaged students.

The superintendent is asking for a formal review by the Texas Education Agency and for more time to implement changes.
