SOMERVILLE APPROVED NEW CITY MANAGER
The City of Somerville has a new city administrator.
Ben Griffin has been hires to fill the position.
Griffin was the city manager for the Piney Point Villiage near Houston for four years. Prior to that, he served four years as Chief Financial Officer in Clarksville, Tennessee.
Griffin, a graduate of Texas A&M, began his career in government as finance director in Jasper before becoming assistant city manager in Tomball, where he became city manager in 2002.
Griffin says he was interested in the Somerville position due to its proximity to Houston, where his children live.
Griffin says he plans to work with the city council and department heads to best use the city’s resources effectively.
He also plans to improve the streets and maintain a clean and attractive city.
