SOMERVILLE MAN ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY
A Somerville man has been arrested for armed robbery after he allegedly stole a car on Tuesday.
According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, Jerome Dwayne Scott, 28, was arrested by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office after they received information from the Somerville Police Department that he had been involved in an armed robbery in their city on October 25th.
Scott allegedly robbed a female at gunpoint and took her 2012 Mini Cooper. The investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s office suggested the vehicle was possibly at a location on Sweed Road in Washington County. Sergeant Eddie Ocanas, along with a Brenham Police Department Detective, responded to that location. Prior to arriving, the officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle at the “105 Grocery.” The officers made contact with the vehicle and driver, who was identified as Jerome Dwayne Scott. When the vehicle was confirmed stolen, Scott was arrested. He was also found to be in possession of cocaine and a handgun.
Two passengers in the stolen vehicle were identified as Craig Allen Sweed, 24, and Truvell Donte Sweed, 20, both of Washington. Craig Sweed was observed by officers tossing an object underneath the stolen vehicle during the initial investigation. The object was found to be a clear plastic bag containing approximately 35 grams of Ecstasy tablets. He was arrested on-site for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, along with two active traffic warrants. Truvell Donte Sweed was taken into custody on a local misdemeanor theft warrant.
Scott, along with Craig Sweed remain incarcerated at the Washington County Jail. Craig Sweed currently has bonds totaling $201,000.00. Bond amounts for Jerome Scott have yet to be determined, pending additional charges from Somerville Police Department. Truvell Sweed was released after posting a $500.00 bond.
