SOMERVILLE SUPERINTENDENT LEAVING FOR HOMETOWN

The superintendent Somerville Independent School District is stepping down to take a similar position in his hometown.

Charles Camarillo who has been Somerville's superintendent for 13 years, is leaving to take the same job in Poteet.

Camarillo will present his letter of resignation to the district's Board of Trustees on May 30th.

Under Camarillo, Somerville approved a $12.6 million bond in 2016, that bond went toward building a new elementary school, which nearing completion.

Camarillo said he will be back for the grand opening of the new elementary school.

The Somerville ISD board is currently looking for an interim superintendent.
